COURSE OVERVIEW
PV Systems require a skilled workforce trained to design and install these technologies. Additionally, maintaining these systems with expected operation requires technicians who can identify and address any safety or performance issues. This course offers basic knowledge for these workers to meet and exceed safety and operational requirements through code compliance and best practices.
Course Objectives
- Describe the several types of inverters and charge controllers
- Identify types of solar panels
- Train the student in site surveys, estimating the energy output, and selecting a system
- Designing the PV system mechanically and directionally
- Identify and describe the PV system electrical wiring per NEC Art .690
- Describe the connections to the utility grid
- Identify the procedures to conduct an acceptance test
- Identify and Describe Federal, State, Utility rebates and contracts
