    Upon completion of the HIV/AIDS seminar, the participants will be able to :
    -Identify modes of transmission for the HIV virus
    -Describe the three stages of HIV virus
    -Describe Methods used to test for the presence of HIV in the body
    -Identify the different kinds of drugs used in the treatment of HIV infection
    -Identify measures used to contain the spread of the HIV virus in healthcare
    -Identify prevention measures

    Course Description : This seminar will meet the four hour requirement that most people in the health field need. Topics include : HIV/AIDS definitions, modes of transmission, high risk groups, stages of HIV infection, testing and treatment for HIV, worldwide and US statistics, legal issues regarding HIV, confidentiality of the information, as well as the use of Universal Precautions, personal protective equipment, handwashing and other infection control procedures to prevent transmission of the virus.

    Course Methodology : Lecture and discussion methods will be used to present the information on HIV/AIDS and supplemental videotapes
